JIB Gold Card Training is not a correct term but the best term to fit this course.  WMD Electrical Training offer NVQ Level 3 for electricians who need the JIB Gold Card and are currently working in the industry.

What Kinds of JIB Cards Are There?

The colours of JIB Cards are related to the Electrical NVQ Levels / qulaifications held by their owners. The main JIB Card colours are JIB White Card, JIB Gold Card, JIB Black Card and JIB Yellow Card.

 

JIB Gold Card Holders may have different specialisms listed on their cards with cards being issued for:

 

Electrotechnical

Data Communications

Emergency and Security Systems

Fire Detection and Alarm Systems

 

There are JIB Black, White and Yellow Cards issued 

for Management, Related Disciplines and Visitors respectively.

 

ECS Apprentice Card

Colour: White with Red Stripe

 

To allow apprentices to work on site to gain valuable industry experience the ECS has a number of cards that are issued to support their industry training. The cards are issued under the strict understanding that a formal industry training programme is being undertaken and that all work the trainees or apprentices carries out is under supervision.

The trainees and apprentice ECS cards carry the CSCS logo to show that they have had training on health and safety as part of their training programme and that employer will ensure that all aspects of health and safety have been covered by realistic risk assessment, training and appropriate action.

ECS Trainee Electrician Card

Colour: White with Red Stripe

ECS Installation Electrician Card

Colour: Gold

 

The Installation Electrician ECS gold card is for operatives working on electrotechnical systems on the consumer's side of the electrical installation. The Installation Electrician ECS gold card demonstrates that the operative has completed a formal industry regulated competency based qualification, which includes technical theory with practical and competency assessments.

ECS Contracts Manager Card

Colour: Black

 

The ECS Contracts Manager card is for senior staff to manage contract on construction sites. The card acknowledges the managerial status and qualifications of the card holder.

It is possible for Managers to hold both a Management card and a skilled craft card (gold card) where the individual has qualified under both sets of criteria.

ECS Site Visitor Card

Colour: Yellow

 

The ECS Site Visitor card allows access to construction sites for regular visitors who do not carry out any direct electrical work.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS COURSE?​

 

Have you asked yourself, how do i get a JIB Gold Card?

This is the qualification for you.  We have been asked many times by electricians who are working in the industry, how do I get an electricians gold card or JIB Gold Card so we spoke to the JIB and were told that candidates need an NVQ Level 3.  We have looked at both City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 and EAL NVQ Level 3 and have tried to find the best route for our candidates to achieve the JIB Gold Card standard.

 

This course is ideal if you are already working in the industry but have no formal electrical qualifications or you do not hold the required electrical qualifications required by the Joint Industries Board (JIB).

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO TAKE THIS COURSE?​

You will need to have a good knowledge of electrical installation work and be working in the industry in order to be able to provide evidence for your portfolio of work.  It is a requirement of the JIB that candidates who take this course must comlete the AM2 electrical assessment if they haven't already done so, in order to gain the full qualification. 

 

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?​

Six months plus but as the whole course is ON LINE,  there is no requirement to take time off work

What do I Need to get a JIB Gold Card? wmd electrical training offer NVQ level 3 courses in Birmingham to allow you to get the JIB Gold Card.
The JIB apprentice card is only issued to candidates undertaking a full apprenticeship course.  The candidate will need additional qualifications after the apprenticeship is completed in order to obtain the JIB Gold Card
The JIB Trainee card is issued to different levels of trainee from through stages 1, 2 and 3.  The JIB Gold Card will only be issued after further qualifications and experience have been added to the candidates knowledge.
The JIB Yellow Card is for site visitors who will not be carrying out direct work on site but have a requirement to visit sites.  This is not the JIB Gold Card.
